Meet Little Red!

Update October 1, 2014:  Little Red found her forever home today!!

She is one of the favorites at the Montgomery County Friends of Animal Care and Control, Inc. shelter in Christiansburg,VA.

Little Red is around 6 years old and has been at the shelter since 05/21/2014.  Although she is not a fan of other dogs, she adores children. She is the queen of fetch, returning the ball to you every time for as long as you will play with her. Indoors she is very calm, well mannered and content to stretch out at your feet.  She is very loyal and lovable! Little Red is so deserving of a home with a kind and caring family.

For additional information about Little Red, please contact Friends of Animal Care & Control.

The Cat Experience at MSVC

Going to the vet can be a stressful experience for many cats. We care about our feline patients’ comfort and stress levels, which is why we’re building cat-only exam and waiting areas.

We hope that the smaller, cozier rooms away from our canine patients will allow your cat to relax and enjoy his visit to the clinic. Make sure to grab some leaves from our catnip plant in the cat waiting room to dry at home!

Introducing the POSH program for senior pets

POSH Senior Package

Did you know that most pets are considered “seniors” once they reach the age of seven? Your senior pet’s health is important to us! Just as older humans need to see their doctors more frequently, your senior pet needs more frequent exams and testing to make sure that he stays healthy into his golden years.

Because of this, we created the POSH (Pets Over Seven Health) program. This program includes physical exams, a urinalysis (testing the pet’s urine), and blood testing every 6 months. These tests help us to catch health issues before they become a problem.

We have grouped these items into a special POSH package where you get a discount on all testing based on your pet’s age. For example, if your dog is 7 years old, you receive a 7% discount on the package items every 6 months, if he’s 12 years old, you’d get a 12% discount.

Please do not hesitate to ask our staff about the POSH program and how to enroll your senior pet!

Letter from Dr. Laurie Halkowich

Dear Clients of North Main Small Animal Clinic and Red Bone Mobile Vets,

Dr. Dallman of North Main Small Animal Clinic retired on May 30, 2014. As many clients of both clinics know, Dr. Laurie had a wonderful working relationship with North Main as owner of Red Bone Mobile Vets. When Dr. Dallman pondered retirement, and Dr. Laurie sought to expand her business and services, Dr. Laurie buying the clinic became a natural progression.

We have renamed the clinic Main Street Veterinary Clinic to reflect a coming together of two businesses. To our current Red Bone Mobile Vets clients, we hope to be able to offer you many more services than we have in the past. To the current North Main clients, we hope to build new and fruitful relationships with you and your pets. Change is seldom easy, but please give us the opportunity to get to know you and your pets. We hope clients of both clinics will be as excited as we are to build Main Street Veterinary Clinic together one healthy, happy pet at a time.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Dr. Laurie Halkowich
