Meet Horton!

Update August 28, 2015:  Horton was adopted today!!

Yet another hound in our area picked up as a stray and never reclaimed by his owner.  Horton is one of our longest residents, being with us since April 17th.  He is always ready to go for a hike or run, singing the song of his people on the way; and always on the look out for a dropped tail gate to go for a ride.  🙂

Horton is a shelter volunteer favorite and our volunteers love to take this guy for a walk through the wooded paths (you never have to worry about running up on any wild life as long as he is by your side). He pulls a bit, but responds to commands and will stop and check on you when you stop.

Horton has tested well with the other dogs we have had him around at the shelter, but he should not be in a home with cats or small, furry animals.

Even though he has been at the shelter for three months, Horton still has a very happy demeanor and has remained a super friendly boy with everyone he sees and meets.
